In celebration of International Malbec Day, we asked our Sommeliers their favorite bottles. Here’s what Angela Demmel, sommelier in Greenwich, and Katie Rice, Manager of our wine shop VinoTeca, had to say:

I’d have to go with the Earth First Crianza. Made from Organic grapes, it’s a nice contrast to the one we all love by the glass. It’s full of rich red fruit and violet notes and it leaves you with a lingering cocoa taste on the finish that makes it a great pairing to any BBQ’d or smoky meat dish. Drinking this wine will also make you a contributor to the Avel Alvino foundation that funds the cerebral development of infants in Argentina! Delicious, sustainably farmed and supports a great charity!

My pick would be Vale la Pena from Tierra Divinia. Super ugly label, super delicious wine. Made by Patrick Campbell, an American winemaker, the wine is full and rich with big sexy jammy spice and tons of blue fruit. Sustainably farmed too.
