Chef Stephen Gonzales has had a lifelong love of restaurants and service. This love led him to the Culinary Institute of America Greystone in Napa Valley, CA. After an externship at Restaurante Inigo Lavado in Basque Country, Spain, and at Cotogna in San Francisco, Chef Stephen finally joined Barcelona in 2016. Chef Stephen finds inspiration in his traveling experiences through Spain and his seven months in the Basque Country were some of the most informative of his career. When it comes to flavors and dishes, Chef Stephen looks for tradition — his greatest joy is having someone taste a sense of familiarity, a memory, from one of his dishes. With simple preparation and traditional flavors, Chef Stephen’s menu is transportive.
