Executive Chef Josh Freedman’s cooking career started at a young age, alongside his grandmother in her kitchen. This early love sparked a culinary interest and led to competitive chili cooking. Following his graduation from Johnson and Wales, his love of travel and exploration led him to Norwegian Cruise Line, where he was able to travel around the world with stops in Hawaii, Europe, and South America. This international education deeply influenced his cooking style. With his feet back on dry land, Chef Josh began working in Boston at Paparazzi, Mastro’s Restaurants, Tatte, and more. While in Boston, Chef Josh went from thinking global to thinking hyper-local: focusing on local farms and ingredients. Now as the Executive Chef of Barcelona in Brookline, Massachusetts, Chef Josh creates an ever-changing menu dedicated to seasonality, ingenuity, and technique. At the convergence of his globally-influenced career and dedication to local ingredients — Chef Josh pushes each tapa to new heights.
